Bourdon Robert

French centenarian, he was the Doyen masculin des Français, Frances oldest man, from 13 January 2016 until his death in Nice at age 109 on 9 March 2016. He became doyen upon the death of Roger Gouzy and he was succeeded as doyen by Georges Massard. Robert Bourdons father died when he was 17. In 1918, he obtained the certificate of primary studies with the classification of 1st in the canton. In 1923, he obtained a diploma in technical engineering from the Higher School of Electricity (Supélec). In 1970, he retired and moved to Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée. He was involved in the tourist office and the expansion of the Auron station. In 2016, he moved to Nice. He wrote two books, Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée: jadis et aujourdhui: histoire et évolution dun village frontalier des Alpes-Maritimes (1991) and Un siècle!
