Brady Mikel

American criminal convicted of four counts of first-degree murder in connection with an attempted escape from a Pasquotank County prison that occurred on 12 October 2017. Brady was sentenced to death on 28 October 2019. He thus became the 143rd person waiting to die on death row in North Carolina. The state has not carried out an execution since 2006. Previously, on 18 February 2013, Brady shot a State Highway Patrol trooper during a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 70 in Durham, North Carolina. He was arrested the next day. He pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and assault on a law enforcement officer. On 14 January 2014 he was sentenced to a maximum of 24 years in prison. He also faced a charge of possession of a firearm by a felon. Bradys pregnant girlfriend, Lyndsey Smith, was also arrested on accessory charges in the trooper-shooting case.
