Chevalier Louis

French historian with interests in geography, demography and sociology. Much of his work was devoted to the history of French culture and Paris. Chevaliers most important works are "Classes Laborieuses et Classes Dangereuses à Paris au XIX Siècle," published in 1958, a survey of the Parisian working class that challenged many assumptions of political historians about their work regimes and political activities and "LAssassinat de Paris" published in 1977. Chevalier was awarded the Grand Prix of the Académie des Sciences Morales et Politiques in 1987. He died on 3 August 2001, Paris. Link to Wikipedia biography Read less
