American twin brothers conjoined at the head, noted as the first case where craniopagual twins were separated and one survived. A surgery to separate them on 17 December 1952 by a team of 68 doctors and technicians in Chicago, Illinois took 12 hours and 40 minutes (starting at 7:50 AM). Roger died 34 days after the operation, "shortly before 11 PM" on 20 January 1953. Rodney recovered from the surgery but did suffer from neurological damage.
