American missing person at age nine. On 11/19/1988, she and a friend, Trina Rodriguez, went two blocks on their scooters to the Hayward corner store for a soda. When they came out of the store, her scooter had been moved next to a car driven by a young white male. When Michaela went to get it he grabbed her, threw her into the back seat and drove off. Trina told adults in the store and when the police arrived, described the kidnapper. The community mobilized for a massive hunt. Within 16 hours volunteers had posted 42,000 flyers, but no traces were ever found.
