Who is Gehlen Reinhard?

German Chief of Intelligence under Hitler and the first Chief of Intell in postwar West Germany 1955-68. From late 1942 to the end of the war, he directed foreign armies East. An exacting commander, he provided Hitler with accurate and important information about Soviet formations. When Hitler ignored Gehlens analysis, his errors proved fatal. In 1945, at the end of the war, Gehlen surrendered himself and his archives to the Americans, putting his mass of materials and contacts at the disposal of a major intelligence organ.
