Gibson FloydRobert

United States federal judge. On August 17, 1961, Gibson was nominated by President John F. Kennedy to a new seat on the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri created by 75 Stat. 80. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on August 30, 1961, and received his commission the same day. He served as chief judge from 1962 until June 20, 1965. On May 18, 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson nominated Gibson for elevation to a seat on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit vacated by Albert Alphonso Ridge. Gibson was confirmed by the United States Senate on June 8, 1965, and received his commission the same day. He served as chief judge from 1974 to 1979. He assumed senior status on December 31, 1979, serving in that capacity until his death, in Kansas City, on October 4, 2001. Link to Wikipedia biography Read less
