Biography

Born in Düsseldorf on 18 June 1929, Habermas studied philosophy, sociology, and German literature in Frankfurt. He became a central figure in postwar German philosophy, studying under Theodor Adorno and contributing to the intellectual milieu of the Institute for Social Research. He has taught at Goethe University Frankfurt and remained a prolific writer and speaker for decades.
