British political activist and writer, for many years identifying as a lesbian before beginning the transition to becoming a trans man in 2002. His memoir, A New Man was published in 2017. Born into Colombian heritage through his mother, Marta Lombard, an artist, and grandfather, the diplomat Jaime Jaramillo Arango, he learned Spanish and became a Colombian national. In 2015, Charlie Kiss became the first trans man to run for parliament in the UK, standing for the Green party in Islington South & Finsbury. In 2019 he was diagnosed with an incurable lung condition. His death was announced on 24 June 2022. He was 56. For more info see his obituary.
