Maisonseul Jeande

French urban planner and painter whose art works tackle many themes according to various approaches, including his architectural style, from the evocation of Prisonniers (Prisoners), the "rebellious" or "screaming" Mendiants, Aveugles et Bergers (Beggars, Blindmen and Shepherds, 1955-1961), landscapes of Tipaza and Chenoua or the Sahel (1965-1966), and his Philosophes (Philosophers) series of the 1990s, close to “the old Greek cynics”. One of the most constant and original veins in his work is linked to his renewed attention to the world of stones both in natural and architectural structures. His friend Albert Camus wrote the preface to the monograph Jean de Maisonseul published by Galerie Lucie Weil in Paris in 1958. Another friend, Jean Sénac, wrote the preface to the book Jean de Maisonseul published by the French Cultural Center of Algiers in 1968.
