Miles Traig

American newsmaker as the subject of a medical negligence suit. He was born with mental retardation and cerebral palsy due to lack of oxygen during his mothers labour and his birthing. His parents won a suit against Box Butte County on 7 December 1988 and were awarded $1.5 million compensation. Traig Miles died from injuries sustained when he stepped in front of a train on 18 March 1990 at age 9. The judgement was appealed by the county and on 2 October 1992 the original judgement was upheld by the Nebraska state court. The parents thus received $2 million (including accrued interest).
