Orgad BenZion

Israeli composer. His family emigrated to Mandate Palestine in 1933, where he started violin lessons in 1936. Ben Zion Orgad composed some 90 works for various ensembles, vocal, orchestral and chamber. In 1975 - 1988 he was in charge of musical education by the Ministry of Education. In 1997 he was awardwd the Israeli Prize. Orgad is regarded as a valued musician and original poet. Although he was always searching for the original and new sound of his works, he devoted much time to delving into the past and to Israeli and Jewish roots. In his special way, he followed Jewish tradition, Israeli culture and Hebrew. He died 28 April 2006, Tel Aviv. Link to Wikipedia biography Read less
