Reynolds HerbertH

American education administrator who was the President of Baylor University (Waco, Texas) from 1981 to 1995. Under his leadership, Baylor University expanded significantly, added womens sports programs, and joined the Big Twelve Conference. He also moved to limit the Baptist General Convention of Texas control of the university by changing the Universitys charter in 1990. He served as its Chancellor from 1995 to 2000. Herbert H. Reynolds graduated from Trinity University in 1952. From 1952 to 1956, he served in the U.S. Air Force and was an advisor for the Japanese Air Self Defense Force. He received an M.A. in psychology from Baylor University in 1958, followed by a PhD in 1961. Reynolds is the father of film director Kevin Reynolds. He died on 25 May 2007 in Angel Fire, New Mexico.
