Costa Rican writer, sculptor, draftsman, printmaker and journalist. In 1928 he participated in a contest where he presented his thesis by Costa Rican artistic renewal, and that same year he won a second prize for his story "The Stone of Toxil" in a literary contest organized by the Editorial Costa Rica. In 1930, he began working at the American Repertory, which publishes more than twenty short stories. By 1934, he gave frantically record cedar, mahogany and other hardwoods, making an estimable graphic work. Thanks to his initiative, he got his work and that of his friends; Francisco Zuniga, Teodorico Quiros, Manuel de la Cruz Gonzalez, Francisco Amighetti, Gilbert Laporte and Adolfo Saenz, were collected in a book published in the same year with the album name prints. In 1935 he obtained for his sculpture "Reason" Silver Medal Exhibition of Central American Art. He bent for drawing, and in 1942 was appointed professor of this matter and perspective at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Costa Rica. He wrote in 1947 "Tales of Sorrows and Landscapes", published in the Editorial El Cuervo and soon stood out as one of the most important books in the field of the Costa Rican story. Illustrated by woodcuts made by himself, it is considered as the most representative work. Later, in 1958, he was appointed as Vice-dean of the same faculty, a position he played for two years. He was appointed director of the Radio University in 1949 and 22 April 1950, he began duties as first director of Radio Universidad. Writer, artist, music lover, he took to guide the first steps of the university station: organized programming, issued a regulation, managed budget and in 1956 managed to realize the dream of providing the Radio own facilities in the new City university, which began to build in San Pedro de Montes de Oca. Some of his stories have been translated into English, French, German, Czech and Russian, in many anthologies and selected other countries. In 1961 he awarded a prize for his story "The flood" in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. In 1964 he was recognized with its total work Magon Prize.
