Ugarteche Scar

Peruvian economist, writer, professor and Senior Researcher at the Institute of Economic Research of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and a Peruvian LGBT activist. He has published an extensive list of specialized works on economics, international finance, economic history and world economics. As an activist for the rights of Peruvian LGBT people, Ugarteche collaborated in the foundation of the Lima Homosexual Movement (MHOL). Ugarteche is openly gay and married his Mexican partner Fidel Aroche under Mexican marital law in October 2010. In January 2017, a Peruvian constitutional court ordered the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (RENIEC) to recognize their union and register it as valid within the Peruvian jurisdiction.
