American missing person at age 11, Lawrence, MA. The sixth-grader was with her mom at the LaSalle Social Club on 9/11/1988 when she went off to visit local friends. She was apparently upset when one of the mothers told her to go back to her mom at the club. After doing so and shortly thereafter, she left again and was never seen alive after that. The next day, her body was found on nearby railroad tracks. Melissa has been stabbed and run over by a freight car. She was fully clothed and had not been sexually assaulted or drugged. The case was never resolved though the prime suspect, Tommy Lee Sells, a drifter who confessed to 13 murders, was viewed as the most likely killer. He is on death row in Texas. Read less
