Lal Kitab Calculator Your Lal Kitab chart, the planets in pucca ghar, the nine debts and your Varshphal

Lal Kitab, the "red book", is a school of Indian astrology known for its simple household remedies. It reads the birth chart by houses, not signs: the sign of each house is fixed, house 1 is always Mesha and house 12 always Meena, and every planet keeps the house it had in your birth chart.

Enter your birth details

Lal Kitab reads the planets by house, and the houses are counted from your Lagna, which changes about every two hours. Enter your birth time as exactly as you can.

Local clock time at the place of birth.

Your birth details are used only to calculate this chart. They are not saved to an account or added to the page address. This tab remembers them for the other calculators and forgets them when you close it.

What the calculator shows

Everything comes from one calculation of your birth chart, read with the Lal Kitab tables.

  • The Lal Kitab chart

Your birth-chart houses with the sign fixed to each house, as Lal Kitab draws it. The planets sit in the same houses as in your Vedic chart.

  • Pucca ghar

Each planet's own fixed house in Lal Kitab. A planet in its pucca ghar is read as giving a fixed result, so no remedy is given for it.

  • Planet readings and remedies

For each planet, the Lal Kitab lines for that planet in that house, grouped by area of life, and the traditional remedies where the texts give them.

  • The nine debts (rin)

Pitru, Matru, Stree and the other karmic debts of Lal Kitab: which of them the placements in your chart point to, why, and the traditional remedy.

  • Varshphal, year by year

The annual chart for your running year of life, with the placements that need care that year, and any other year from 1 to 120.

How Lal Kitab differs from a Vedic chart

A Vedic chart reads each planet by its sign and its house. Lal Kitab reads it by house alone: the twelve houses keep their natural signs, so the 1st house is always read as Mesha and the 7th as Tula, whatever your Lagna is. That is why your Lal Kitab chart shows Mesha in the 1st house even if your Lagna is another sign.

Lal Kitab also has its own annual chart. The Varshphal is not a chart of the calendar year but of your running year of life: each planet moves from its birth house to that year's house through a fixed 120-year table, and planets that share a birth house move together.

How DKSCORE makes your Lal Kitab chart

  • Your birth chart

A sidereal chart with the Lahiri ayanamsa for your date, time and place of birth, with whole-sign houses counted from your Lagna.

  • Signs fixed to houses

Each planet keeps its birth-chart house, and the house takes its fixed Lal Kitab sign: house 1 Mesha, house 2 Vrishabha, and so on to house 12 Meena.

  • Pucca ghar and readings

Pucca ghar comes from the Lal Kitab table that DKSCORE's astrologer app also uses. The readings and remedies come from DKSCORE's Lal Kitab rule set, drawn from the book's editions, in English.

  • The nine debts

Each debt is checked against the placements commonly given for it in the Lal Kitab tradition. They are shown as tradition while DKSCORE's astrologers review the list.

  • Varshphal

Your running year of life is your completed age plus one. The annual chart moves each planet through the Lal Kitab 120-year table, the same table DKSCORE's astrologer app uses.

FAQ

Lal Kitab calculator: questions and answers

What is a Lal Kitab chart?
It is your birth chart drawn the Lal Kitab way. The houses are counted from your Lagna as usual, but each house keeps a fixed sign: house 1 is Mesha, house 2 Vrishabha and so on to house 12, Meena. Every planet stays in the house it has in your Vedic chart, so the two charts have the same planets in the same houses with different signs written on them.
Why does my Lal Kitab chart show Mesha in the 1st house?
Because Lal Kitab fixes the signs to the houses. Whatever your Lagna is, the 1st house is read as Mesha, the 7th as Tula and the 10th as Makara. Your Lagna still decides which planets fall in which house.
What is pucca ghar?
Pucca ghar is a planet's own fixed house in Lal Kitab, for example the 1st house for the Sun and the 4th for the Moon. Some planets have two, such as Rahu with the 3rd and the 12th. A planet in its pucca ghar is read as giving a fixed result, so the calculator gives no remedy for it.
What are the nine debts (rin) in Lal Kitab?
Lal Kitab speaks of karmic debts, rin, that a chart can carry: Pitru Rin (of the father and ancestors), Matru Rin (of the mother), Stree Rin (of women), Bhratru or Sambandhi Rin (of brothers and relatives), Bahin or Putri Rin (of sisters and daughters), Nirdayi Rin (of cruelty), Ajanma Rin (of the unborn), Swa Rin (the self debt) and Daiviya Rin (the divine debt). Each is linked to certain planets in certain houses. The calculator shows which of them your chart points to and the placements behind each.
What is Lal Kitab Varshphal?
Varshphal is the Lal Kitab annual chart. It is made for your running year of life, which is your completed age plus one, not for a calendar year. Each planet moves from its birth house to that year's house through Lal Kitab's 120-year table. The calculator opens on your current year, and you can step to any year from 1 to 120.
Why is my Varshphal year different from the calendar year?
Because a Lal Kitab year runs from one birthday to the next. If you are 36 today, you are in the 37th year of your life, and its annual chart applies from your 36th birthday to your 37th.
Do I need my exact birth time?
Yes, as near as you know it. Lal Kitab reads the planets by house, and the houses are counted from your Lagna, which changes about every two hours. A wrong birth time can move every planet by a house, and with it the readings, the debts and the Varshphal.
Are the remedies guaranteed to work?
No. The remedies are the traditional ones given in the Lal Kitab texts for a planet in a house, and they are shown so that you know what the tradition says. They are not medical, legal or financial advice. For a reading of your own chart and which remedies, if any, suit you, talk to an astrologer.
Why are some readings in a different order from another website?
Lal Kitab has several editions, and websites draw on different ones. DKSCORE shows the lines from its own Lal Kitab rule set for each planet in each house, the same for everyone with that placement. Other sites may also use the Vedic signs, which Lal Kitab does not, or a different pucca ghar table.
Are my birth details saved?
Your details are used only to calculate the result. They are not saved to an account or profile, and they are never added to the page address or sent to analytics.
